This is a lovely find. A cross necklace with a gold tone chain, made by the *Whiting Davis Co. Bought around the the late 50s, early 60s. This piece like all our other items comes from our family and was bought by one of our family members when the item came out. On the clasp is the Whiting Davis tag. The cross itself is made of iridescent glass with a lovely scroll design of gold metal on all four points and in the center. The chain measures a little over 10 inches, the cross is almost 3 inches long and 2 inches wide. Would make a grand addition to any vintage jewelry collection or collector of Whiting Davis jewelry.
*(Whiting Davis Co. started out making mesh chains and mesh purses in the last part of the 1800s and expanded into a very high quality costume jewelry line. Transfers on porcelain and early cameo type jewelry was one of their favorite lines. They created some of the most impressive line of iridescent glass jewelry. Perhaps they were best known in the jewelry industry for their output and production of some very fine Costume Jewelry produced in the 1950s copying many fine museum pieces. They still produce mesh purses and jewelry today)
