Here we have 5 pieces of delightful Avon glass called 1876 Cape Cod (Ruby color). Made for Avon in 1975 (the line was discontinued in 1993, the last to be made in 93 was the cup/saucer, bread/butter plate and the pie plate) by the Wheaton Glass Co. Avon wanted to introduce a dinnerware line in the early 70s and they had it styled not only after the Roman Rosette pattern but also what was called Sandwich glass (1876 Philadelphia Centennial). The first two pieces made for Avon in 1975 were the Candlestick and cruet (as you know for oil or vinegar). New items were added every year and others were discontinued at the same time. The ornament (which was inscribed with Christmas 1990) was the only non dinnerware item made and sadly we have not come across it, still going through items at this time, also the ornament is one of the hardest to find in the 1876 collection by Avon (from what I understand was made of heavy glass and better to hang on a wall then on the tree). In our collection we have......1 Candlestick 8 3/4 in tall and 3 in wide, 2 Mugs 5 in tall and 2 1/4 wide, 1 Creamer 3 3/4 in tall and 2 1/4 wide and 1 Cruet 5 1/2 in tall and 2 in wide. Each item is also numbered and says Avon on it's bottom. Makes a lovely addition to any Avon glass collection, missing pieces for one collection or as a gift for that vintage Avon collector you know.
