Here we have a bronze plaque called Bretonne made and signed by French artist Ernesta Robert Merignac*. Made around either the late 1800's or early 1900's. In very good condition. On the front is a picture of a woman with the word Bretonne (BATZ) under her with either a castle or church behind her in the distance. On the other side is a picture of a cathedral. It measures 2 1/4 inches wide and 2 1/2 long. This plaque like our other bronze metal items once belong to my grandfather who was a collector, why he bought this, the others or how it was obtained, sadly we/I do not know. This was pack away for years. A great find for any bronze plaque, medal or medallion collector.
*(Ernesta Robert-Mérignac, sculptor and medallist was born at Saint-Omer in 1858. She studied under Mlle Geneviève Granger, Mlle Darbefeille and Récipon. She died in 1933)
